Bernardine Hine is a Sunshine Coast artist, working predominantly in textiles and mixed media. She is a long-term resident of the area, and her work is very much about the local region.  She makes field trips to photograph plants, landscapes, birds and insects and use these images as inspiration to then create her artwork from. This ranges from art quilts working larger scale to small thread paintings, showcasing the beauty of our wonderful flora, fauna and local landscapes. She uses paints, inks and dyes to colour the fabric, with the details then embroidered free motion on a domestic sewing machine with a multitude of threads.  She also enjoys sketching and working in coloured pencils, drawing on the local birdlife and flora for subject matter.

She began exhibiting her work in 2002, and has over 70 achievements and awards to her name, has exhibited across Australia and internationally, engaged in teaching and judging, and is permanently represented by two Sunshine Coast galleries – Seaview Artists Gallery and Maleny Art Direct.
